    My tetco geothermal has a 4 pin molex going to the ecm board. Is this a DCV signaled board to module? Diagnostics for a 4 pin available? I get 12v DC from Red to other 3 pins. What should I be measuring?

    Walk in the door, go to thermostat and turn fan to on, if you hear a blower you know you have 24v, 110v, red wire from tstat is good, green wire is, fan relay on board is good and fan motor works. If nothing happens flip the tstat to heat, if heat goes then 24v is present and white wire is good, red wire is good, you have both 24v and 110v also. No need for a multi tester yet. NOW got o furnace and start testing, much much faster.

    Good demonstration of nitrogen purge. Terrible demonstration of brazing. Look at the cut open coupons, not a drop of filler material made it to the end of the pipes.

    One of my AC units quit working. I troubleshot the blower motor and I’m having the back and forth rocking but it never starts. All my voltages are good. I ohmed out the blower and am getting 11 ohms at each wire. I didn’t ohm to ground. In the video he mentioned replacing the blower motor but doesn’t specify whether you should replace the blower only or the entire assembly, motor and ecm. Does anyone know what I should do?

      The windings are good so the motor itself is fine if none measure ohms to ground.

    Sir John how are you, I'm Nimrod from Geo Service here in Cayman. I checked a split type unit geothermal AC and when the solenoid valve of the scroll compressor for the 2nd stage works, the 24volts that supplying the magnetic contactor coil will gone. What's the cause of this problem Sir John? Thank you and God bless🙏

    Hey there, I have a water furnace open loop w cupro nickel exchanger. I haven't done any maintenance in almost 10 years, been working great, but now seems to be struggling to keep up. What is the best chemical you recommend for descale that is cupro nickel safe? (we have a water softener, the water in the top of toilet tanks are usually reddish too). Thanks so much for the informative videos!!

    We had 5 ton geothermal system replaced approximately 10 years ago and less than one year later, had lightning strike, needed to replace you again… Due to unscrupulous contractor, I am doubtful this was done correctly, and almost certain that system was never flushed at replacement either time any idea on who to call, how much it should cost and if in fact, there is a way to tell what my antifreeze level is currently with the status of the water without having this service done?

    A squirrel cage blower is not a positive displacement type air pump. Ergo, it should not draw more current due to duct restriction, but should draw less as it is doing less work, moving less air. Put an ammeter on the blower motor and restrict its duct...see what happens.

  • @rodgraff1782
    @rodgraff1782 Год назад

    Before condemning a TXV, you have to check for a restriction upstream, like a plugged filter dryer. The valve needs solid liquid feeding the valve, and at least 100 lbs pressure differential across the valve. The method you used to test the valves operation my removing the bulb, and using hot and cold water is a good idea, and could save replacing a lot of expansion valves. I see a lot of techs not even look at the bulb, to see if it’s mounted correctly and tight. I always replaced the power heads on valves, by pumping the system down. You can tell if the bulb is bad just by pushing on the bellows once it is out. You’re right about the hunting. Usually caused by oversize valve, or improper mounting of the bulb.

    After replacing the module thermister, a year later my main blower motor (GE 1/2 hp 08/22/00 CNO2 011DH7) is making a intermittent high pitched whine (g#5 note) when on first stage. I "think" it's related to the module, but not sure. Anyone?

    What mechanical could be wrong if one of the symptoms is the amp draw on the compressor keeps rising steadily for about fifteen minutes and then it completely shuts off on overload? The refrigerant pressures seem to be stable, but low at appx. 48psi suction and 177 psi liquid being an R-22 unit.

    When done, flush the coil out with water- don't worry, just pull a vacuum for a week or so.~~~ I might use a soapy damp rag, but I'm NOT spraying the hole with water!! A dry carburetor cleaner pray might be better.?

    A good way is to hold a lit match at the exit point. Nitrogen will snuff out the flame if there is no oxygen present. A flow meter that is very sensitive, should be used instead of a regulator. It’s flow that is important, not pressure.

    I have a Nutone HVAC heat pump with a Copeland Scroll compressor. The problem is a loud buzz on startup and intermittently during the cycle. I am thinking it may be the compressor, but, not sure. Have replaced capacitor and checked wiring but still have the buzz at the compressor. Would hate to change compressor if its not bad. Any other causes for this buzz and what would cause the buzz within the compressor?

      Keep an old wire harness remove all wires except 1 and 3 and 12 and 15 and remove molex plug from one end. Now take the red and blue wires and connect to pins 1 and 3 and 12 and 15. You now have a go no go tester for free.
